    Game instructions:

Distribute Cards: Shuffle all the character cards. Each player receives 2 face-down character cards, representing their "influence."

Coins: Each player starts with 2 coins. Place the remaining coins in a central bank.

Remaining Cards: Place the remaining character cards in a face-down draw pile.

Player Order: Choose a starting player. Turns proceed clockwise.

On your turn, you must take one of the following actions. Actions are either general actions (anyone can take) or character-specific actions (which can be challenged).

    General Actions:

Income: Take 1 coin from the central bank (cannot be challenged).

Foreign Aid: Take 2 coins from the central bank (can be blocked by the Duke).

Coup: Pay 7 coins to launch a coup against another player. They must reveal and lose one of their influence (cannot be blocked).

If you have 10 coins or more, a coup is mandatory.

    Character-Specific Actions:

Tax (Duke): Take 3 coins from the bank.

Assassinate (Assassin): Pay 3 coins to assassinate another player's character. That player must reveal and lose one influence.

Steal (Captain): Take 2 coins from another player.

Exchange (Ambassador): Draw 2 cards from the deck, exchange any number of your cards with them, then return 2 cards to the deck.

    Blocking Actions (Specific Characters):

    Duke: Blocks Foreign Aid.

    Captain or Ambassador: Blocks Steal.

    Contessa: Blocks Assassination.

    Bluffing and Challenges:

Claiming a Role: You can take a character-specific action by claiming to have the necessary role (e.g., “I’m the Duke, so I’m taking Tax”).

Challenge: Any player can challenge your claim.

If you are challenged, reveal the role you claimed:

If you were truthful: Discard your revealed role, draw a new card, and continue the action.

If you were bluffing: Lose one influence (reveal and discard one of your cards).

    Losing Influence:

Whenever you lose influence, reveal one of your face-down character cards and place it in the discard pile. Once both cards are revealed, you are out of the game.

    Winning the Game:
The last player with influence remaining wins the game!
